DARE is a community based
program focusing on educating children and young people on the
dangers of using drugs and engaging in
violence. DARE has origins in the inter-city of Los
Angeles, California and is now an international program. There are
over 40,000 DARE officers in schools all over the world helping to
educate young people. DARE is a fantastic resource which creates a
partnership between police officers, teachers and parents.
The Brimfield Police
Department has two officers trained to teach the DARE curriculum.
Both officers are committed to providing a safe school environment
and educating the students.
Officer Daniel Rafferty
Officer Dan Rafferty is the new
School Resource Officer in the Field Schools. Officer

Officer Russell
Diehl
Officer Diehl attended
the University of Akron Police Academy in 2003. He became a
full-time officer with the Brimfield Police Department in early
2004. Officer Diehl is a state certified DARE instructor.
Officer Diehl has returned to a patrol officer status and Officer
Rafferty has taken the role of SRO. Officer Diehl will continue to instruct DARE
classes in the Field Schools.
